Business case

A formal document that provides a structured overview of information about a potential investment. All useful information is bundled in the business case and relevant calculations are described to provide a rationale and justification for the potential investment (Krell & Matook, 2009) The overall goal of a business case is consistently described as to enable well-founded business decisions to make, let proceed or stop the investment (ISACA, 2008; Post, 1992)
